Medicinal Cannabis Production

business-in-africa_medicinal-cannabis.jpg

As a result of increasing global demand for medicinal cannabis, rising production costs in North America and the removal of President Robert Mugabe from power in Zimbabwe, African Sherpa Global was approached by a leading Canadian pharmaceutical company to explore production options in Zimbabwe and neighbouring Zambia.

The task required the identification of suitable commercial farmland, qualified commercial operators, production security and a practical export and distribution model. The fiscal modelling for this project was based on the cost of commercial tobacco production and the distribution network operated, via block-chain, for Zimbabwe’s cut flower industry.

African Sherpa Global secured government production licences for 30,000 hectares, created an in-country trading entity and developed a series of local population engagement projects on behalf of our Canadian client.

Precious Metal Mining

African Sherpa Global was commissioned by an investment fund, based in the United Arab Emirates, to explore and identify precious metal mining investment opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa.

The key goals for the investment client were maturity of mining operation, yield potential, concession and land ownership, geo-political risk and reputational considerations.

African Sherpa Global identified six profitable investment opportunities, of varying operational maturity, and undertook the due diligence associated with land ownership, concession ownership, political influence, operational crisis resilience and investment/reputational risk.

Having arranged, and overseen, various site visits for our client to witness the mining operations and meet the leadership teams behind the mining companies, our client eventually down selected two mining operations in which to invest.

African Sherpa Global was retained to provide an ongoing independent risk assessment of potential local and regional political influences that might otherwise jeopardise the clients return on investment.

African Sherpa Global is extremely proud to have been at the forefront of this project and the many lives it has helped save through the delivery of low-cost clean water to remote parts of Mozambique and Malawi.

African Sherpa Global provided vital geographic and logistical planning advice from the outset of the project and provided on-the-ground support during the project start-up through to project closure.
